Visiting pre-Columbian archeological site

This wonderous place is about 1 1/2 hours from Boquete, up into higher mountains, near the famous Volcan Baru (also an inactive volcano). The beauty of this place just doesn't come through in these pictures (click on them for larger more detailed shots). The property has been in Edna's (below) family for generations. In the mid 1900's and up through 2007 many petroglyphs and stone carvings and ceremonial tables have been found. Life size statues of men with distinct asian faces and hats were found. How interesting is that!! All the statues and the ceremonial tables are in a museum in Panama City.

This pic below shows a stone at the top of the mountain that was discovered recently (it had been covered with moss for hundreds or thousands of years) and it has a map carved into it showing the entire civilization at that time. National Geographic as well as many other countries have had teams sent here to study and explore. The experts say that the entire civilization could have been upwards of 300,000 people! This map covers a very large area and all the round areas on the map as well as this rock itself have no gravitational pull. (means a compass won't work by them.)

There are several healing stones on the property, that have no gravitational pull and are said to heal and give energy. I grabbed onto one and hung on for awhile waiting for my energy to grow. I will let you know.
The property is so beautiful, full of huge heliconias, palms, and numerious exotic and colorful plants. They have a lemon tree from Thailand were the lemons are bigger than cantelopes!
The small tour took us over several simple handmade bridges like this one, and some even shakier!
Here, they found a gravesite with many pots with cremated remains. These are left there and not to be touched, but photos are ok.
